For simple schoolbook analysis it is enought. Most designs we meet is 
designed according to such rules, despite the fact that they do not 
include numerous imperfections. Once you can solve problems like that, 
add imperfections one at a time. Many times the schoolbook approach is 
enought to get a feel. Only rarely has a designer been very carefull to 
handle imperfections. rBE-compensation springs to mind.
