that is a good to know.. definitely has some parallels to what I am
doing. However they have a fairly large heatsink on theirs which takes
up space (and signifies wasted energy).
for total current draw I am not sure yet. I will be driving a max of
32 leds via driver ics but I will be pwm the enable lines so that I
reduce the current they consume. The uP should be approximately
50-100mA, the rest of the stuff I need to calculate or just measure
off my prototype.
I will definitely investigate buck drivers if it proves necessary....
It is unfortunate that Euro power supplies (e.g. Doepfer) do not have
a dedicated 5V line as this would make life easier and result in less
power consumption by the module.
