Disclaimer: I know nothing about the design of the Livewire LFO.

Another approach is to use the existing reset circuit, instead of adding 
  a new circuit to ground the cap - in other words, there's already a 
working reset, why add another?  Try back-tracing the existing circuit 
and add in the appropriate circuit to trigger that circuit.  This is how 
a sync circuit is typically added to a VCO.
