You do have to question the reasons why we are advised to take some of  
these drugs.
After a period of illness a few years back from which I have  
thankfully now recovered,
I was taking a cocktail of around 12 different tablets every day which  
my doctor(s) had
prescribed. They left me feeling weak and lethargic and constantly  
getting dizzy spells.
One day I decided to stop taking the lot. As a result I am A) Not  
dead ! B) Feel perfectly OK.
We always assume if a doctor prescribes something it must be safe and  
don't bother to
read the small print.
