That depends on what you envision doing with the VCOs.  One reason why a modular
(if it's that) might have several VCOs is because the performer plans to set them
to intervals, which may be an octave or more.  In this case, it seems more important
that the VCOs track each other accurately and that the intervals be precise between
them, which might be more important than whether the VCOs track an external reference
well.  I could see a situation where one VCO is set up to track most accurately in
its low range, where another VCO, which is usually tuned to a high interval above
the first, is set to track most accurately in a higher range.
