Jason, you're thinking of the PWM type.  You can have centre or edge PWM by
bringing either the triangle or the saw, respectively, to the pulse
comparator.  This can be done on either VCO core type (and, in fact, all my
own VCOs have this feature, as well as the related feature of either sine
(mashed triangle) or "sigmoid" (mashed saw) outputs).

I'm afraid that sync behaviour is related to how the oscillator works
(integrator reset for saw, or integrator direction change for triangle).
