[sdiy] on-on-on switches with baton

Danjel,
I've been looking at a similar issue for a sequencer (with different size
switches).
The idea I'm going to try is to use a SIL PCB header, like this:
http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Connectors/Connectors-Multipole/PCB-Interc
onnect/2.54mm-PCB-Interconnection-system/63793
to space the switch away from the PCB. Soldering this to the PCB, then
soldering the switch to the connector will give me a lot more latitude in
positioning the switch whilst still maintaining a relatively solid
connection.
Not an ideal solution, but a reasonable compromise.
Regards
Mike Gorman

Subject: [sdiy] on-on-on switches with baton
I am putting together a DIY kit for expanding the Livewire Vulcan.
I wanted to use these tyco on-on-on switches:
http://ca.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Tyco-Electronics/3-1437576-9/?qs=sGAEpiMZ
ZMtrYAyDPAZZ3buJLpUOKNxrH%252bhNhxzQ1cw%3d
but they are obsolete and with no equivalent replacement.
What I am looking for is a slide switch that is tall enough (or it's
actuator is long enough) so that the switch can be mounted on the same
pcb as the 3.5mm jacks (which are approximately 11mm tall between the
pcb and the underside of the 2mm panel.
This means the switches need to extend beyond 13mm.
Any ideas?
p.s. I am using slide switches because they are a lot cheaper than the
on-on-on toggle switches.... my initial solution was to make a
dedciated pcb for them but I would prefer to do this all as one pcb.
cheers,
Danjel
