[sdiy] VCO Linear Voltage

OK I am starting to see how it can be useful, if you want to control the
Modulation at a fixed frequency range as in the case of the beating you
would use the Linear input. Are there other uses beside beating? Is this
perhaps a useful input for "Robo Voice" effects?

Patching a VCO's sine output to a linear FM input yields interesting
timbral changes. It needs to AC-coupled, though, or the pitch goes
wild. At least, that's what they tell me. To be honest, I've tried it
and the pitch has varied even when it's AC-coupled -- but I did like
the timbral change.

You can also use linear FM to generate voltage-controlled beating,
which sounds different than tremolo from a VCA. (I believe that JH is
a fan of this.) Oh, sure, you can use expo FM to induce beating, but
the beat frequency is not as controllable as with linear FM.

John
