Hi!
Using a VREG is OK when working with one supply voltage that never changes.
If you want to use your circuit with different power supplies or batteries a virtual
Ground/rail splitter circuit - like those from Texas Instruments - are a universal solution.
I really can recommend these circuits. They work from 4 to 40V:
