[sdiy] DIY PCB Schematic Capture and PCB layout package for FREE

Try KiCAD. It's free, comes with a reasonable set of library parts
(and other user-created libraries are out there), supports large and
multi-layer boards, and it will output the proper Gerber files and
drill files. It can also output AI (Illustrator files) that are useful
for printouts or documentation.
