I think that's exactly what he's talking about. Why not something like that?
Also useful are Y cords with a mono plug on all three ends. I have some
about 0.5 meters long, made by Hosa I think. (Yeah, I know, but they haven't
failed yet.) They're very handy for e.g. running one pitch CV to two
oscillators.
