Scott's right, it does need a CV as well. Hence they called it a "uP  
controllable waveform convertor" - you need a uP to ensure that the  
CV and the frequency pulses are coherent. It is basically a DCO  
waveshaper with bells and whistles.

One thing I love about the Curtis chips is that they always seem to  
include filter FM. Doug Curtis must have been a fan!
