Has anyone had experience with this Seller's item? It's "Virtual
Village". I've gotten an EPROM eraser, some cables, a few other bits
and bobs from them, and they've been fine.
Item is a gun type soldering sucker; About $175au delivered.
=My budget for a desoldering gun doesn't extend to new at this point in time.
=I don't desperately need one right away, so can wait to amass more funds.
=I almost exclusively do through hole work, and want to be able to
remove solder so I can change components, not just clear off the board
to harvest. So I don't think a hot air blower is what I need, but,
I've never used one.
=Prefer Pistol/Gun type to be able to put into case and bundle into
backpack to take over to Bill's house.
=I don't plan to go into commercial parts harvesting. I wouldn't be
using it for hundreds of germanium diodes from old PCBs or anything
(well, just 100 diodes or so, actually, but, I figure that's a good
test of it's functionality, and some old Logic ICs from some junk
PCBs)
=Do I go this sort of route, or wait a few weeks until I can afford
Hakko or Den-On?
=Looking to avoid false economy.
Any input welcome, thanks.
