So I'm looking up some parts on Mouser, and I find the 585-ALD555PAL.
This is supposedly a CMOS 555 with tighter specs and more carefully
matched internal Rs. The data sheet states "Functionally equivalent to
NE555 with greatly expanded high and low frequency ranges." They're a
little pricey at about $1.50 each, but they might be worth trying in a
555-based LFO or ADSR (or even a Fatman VCO) to see if they really are
more stable and / or give a greater range.
Just a thot.
Tim (functionally equivalent to Tom Selleck, without all that pesky
money and handsomeness) Servo
