The hardcover and comb bound booxs are actually different titles. The comb bound one is a student guide to the material in the hardcover one.
The hardcover is the "classic" that everyone talks about. Very solid on the fundamentals.
That sad, the student book is also very good. It's presented as a lab manual, and is a much more practical, hands-on guide to the same topics. Ultimately, they're both useful.
And back on topic: the student edition has one of the best & most concise walkthroughs of linear biasing for a single transistor amplifier that I've ever encountered. There are also some real eye openers in the opamp discussions, particularly regarding nonlinear feedback.
