Hi David,
Usually when a pin says N/C it means that there are more pins on the package
than die bonding areas to be connected.
Sometimes it is a reserved pin and the manufacturer does not wish to support
in the general population.
You would have to look at the die bonding docs to get the complete picture.
I work at Freescale Semi. And I know from our products this is usually the
case in many type of products.
