Hello,
Loads of people on this list have made really good suggestions for op-amp books.
I'd like to get some recommendations on books about working with and getting a deeper understanding of transistors.
I've recently been messing around with variations on the single transistor VCA from units like the Korg MS20, Ray Wilson's WP20 and some of the Roland XOX units.
After lots of tinkering I'm pretty happy (and surprised) with the results I'm getting from such a simple circuit...
...but - now I'm trying to interface it into other parts of the signal chain I'm realising just how finely balanced everything is with regard to current, transistor specs and the signals flowing into and out of the VCA - and trying to get explanations (that I understand) for some of the things that are going on so that I can fix or fine tune them based on knowledge rather than just tinkering is proving difficult.
So - go on then, what's your favourite Big Book of Dark Transistor Knowledge.
Cheers,
Justin
