1. spraying deoxit will mostly move the crud around inside in the pots
and also down onto the board, leaving residue in the pot and on the
board. Depending on where it ends up on the board, this could cause a
problem. I guess for a quick fix, you could try spraying the pot while
holding the board upside down, so the crud flushes out the slot in the
top of slider, away from the board.
2. there is no problem with removing the sliders and cleaning them
separately from the board, other than the risk of damaging the pcb in
the process (and also reassembling the board incorrectly!).
