Consider also the Microchip MCP4821/4921. 12 bits, 2 lsb INL, 0.1% gain 
error (typical). Damn cheap too.

If I were to build a Midi2cv, I'd scrap Paia & related designs as outdated 
and build something with a simple MCU and a serial DAC.
