[sdiy] Old DOS MIDI software (Sound Globs)

I have these old 286, 386, 486 computers sitting around with MIDI
interfaces in them.

As an experiment, I wanted to play around with running old DOS
aleatoric programs on them, like a little automatic ensemble.

I found a demo program for something called "Sound Globs". No user
information and a very cryptic interface.

Does anyone remember this? It is fun, or a waste of time?

You can get some interesting results by using random voltage sources
as mixers or audio stream selectors.

I put up a page about it long ago, never mind the artsy-fartsy text:

It is purely for fun of course. You can patch up a variety of
automatic mixing patches on a modular. The little LED bargraph device
is not needed, it was just an example.

Any information or help with old DOS aleatoric software appreciated.

I did manage to find all of the files for John Dunn's excellent but
user hostile "Music Box" program which replicates Buchla flavored
software modules for MIDI control. I had written a bunch of little
patches for it back in the 80's, I wanted to get them off the old 5
1/4 media while it was still readable. I'll be happy to pass it
along, if anyone is interested. It does require a 100% MPU-401
compatible interface, my Midi Quest PC MIDI card works fine.

All this stuff has been upgraded by infinitely more sophisiticated
software by now, but as long as the DOS boxes are still running, I
figure, why have not some fun with them.

Thank you for any help.
