MIDI comes down the pipe as relatively easily digestible byte-sized 
chunks. you just check for the start, stop, continue, and clock 
bytes, and do the appropriate thing.

in a minute's googling i discovered that the P-600's arpeggiator can 
be clocked externally but not the sequencer. offhand i don't know 
what the T8 has for sync options, maybe it listens to MIDI sync?
