Depending on the form factor you're sticking with, why not use
separate switches to build up groups?
To me this also would be more attractive from the performers POV since
i could dramatically change the patch by the flick of a switch.
And then again, I play a lot with loose plugs which I firmly insert at
a certain point during the performance.
What I don't like with most breaking-circuit-concepts is the loss of
insert points.
And I don't know of a switched jack that closes on inserting a plug.
But maybe I just didn't get your idea properly?
