[sdiy] makeshift 3v zener?

I have seen where people have used 1N4148 (or similar) in series to 
achieve a zener voltage. Probably not the greatest solution, but it 
might be passable in your situation. General purpose diodes tend to vary 
quite a bit with temperature and current.
