I had the idea that it would be handy to build a mult with a string of jacks that only sent a signal to the next jack in line when a plug was inserted. So, if you had, say 16 jacks in a row, and you plugged a source into #1, that signal would only go to #2 when a plug was inserted there. That signal would pass on to # 3 when a plug was inserted there. If you skip #4 no signal is passed on, so then a source plugged into #5 could then be passed on to #6 when a plug was inserted there. This way, I'm not stuck with mulitples of 4. It could be as few as 2, or as many as 16, as long as you skip a jack in the chain between multipled groups.
So, does this necessitate finding a switched jack that is normally open, and closes on contact? I'm having a little trouble getting my brain all the way around this...
