[sdiy] magsafe patch cables?

I was just thinking about how simple and cool the Apple macbook
magsafe power cable system is and I was wondering if anything like
this existed for audio?

It would be great for headphone jacks as I frequently put too much
strain on them when I am moving around in my clumsy ways.

I think it  would also be cool for  patch cables on modulars. You
would eliminate a lot of mechanical wear experienced by jacks
(especially minijacks in euro systems) and you could possible design
smaller jack systems....not sure how good the electrical connection is
for audio signals in comparison to power and I am guessing this may be
a big problem with this idea.
