Thanks,
I hadn't found those. Everything I was finding was over a dollar. I was paying 30 cents per jack, but they were low quality. 1 in 15 didn't work.
I think I'll take your advice and go for the Kobicons.

Does anyone have a good source for 3.5mm (1/8inch) open frame, panel mount, mono switched jacks? I used to buy bags full at a surplus store, but they no longer carry them. I need about 100 of them, and really don't want to pay Mouser prices! (about 6x more than the surplus ones)
thanks!

I'd say for a reasonably good quality jack, the Kobicon jacks from Mouser are pretty good. They're available with either a knurled nut or a hex nut, I've never had one fail, and they're about 83 cents if you buy ten or more (and about 75 cents if you buy 100). There are cheaper jacks out there, but you may want to think about whether they're durable enough. Nothing takes the joy out of saving money on cheap parts like having to replace them after a few months of use. ;-) Panel jacks, pots, and switches are one place where you probably don't want to go with the cheapest you can find. Otherwise, you might try Futurlec or All Electronics. I bought some of the cheap jacks from Futurlec, but I wasn't real happy with them. They felt "cheap" and not as solid as the Kobicons, and they were still 40 cents.
Tim (cheap, but I have my limits) Servo
