Yes before you do any of this you need to check the polarity of the LEDs,
placing them in the wrong way could possibly cause damage! You will probably
need to also change the resistors limiting the current to the LEDs as they
will be getting 1982-standards LED current and will run at maximum
brightness (maybe you want that but with modern LEDs being so bright its
fine to cut the current feeding them and save some strain on the
powersupply).
I would really be careful with superbright LEDs in synths though, they are
so bright they can hurt your eyes and make playing the synth ever so
slightly annoying :-)

seeing the poly 6 on ebay with new bright leds got me inspired to do
the same with my unit...
what should i look for when stuffing the replacements?
i got some Superbright LEDS but one leg is longer than the other....
does it matter which way i drop in the new led?
doesnt seem like the list is running as of late....
or did i get booted? lol
