Thanks for the replies about this.
Touch switches could actually be really good ... especially if the
contact area is wide enough to 'drum' 2 fingers for very rapid rhythms.
I'll have to play around on the breadboard and see if it's possible to
get a quick enough response time though - the PAiA circuit description
talks about the response time being sacrificed somewhat to avoid switch
bounce.
I'd still like to find a nice push button switch though ... this is not
the first time I've been looking for such a thing for one project or
another. I've used plenty of equipment that has nice light push
switches, but just can't seem to find any for sale on their own...

Yes, I could use a separate input for the gate in and button in as I do
have enough to spare. Now why didn't I think of that?!? :)
