[sdiy] "voltage control" on the 556

Looking at the schematic I knew I had most of the parts laying around  
but save for the 2 470k pots.  >:(

Can I use a different value?  Say 2x 100k?  500K?  1M?  or mix?

Also, I found this guide to the 555 (and 556)

I am glad to see this circuit with a credit given to Mr. Mims, though  
I can't seem to find my Mims 555 cookbook to see what page its from!
