[sdiy] embarrassing noob needs to mount some pots

As another noobee with questions about super-basic basics, I'll chime
in with a suggestion regarding the holes- starting small and going up.
Depending on your material a Unibit seems to be super useful, as it
steps upward in audio-component-friendly increments, rather than being
a single size bit. Hard to describe, so google it. Its a weird looking
bit. It will be your friend. Make sure to dent the metal/put a little
dot with an exacto if you're using plastic to keep the drill from
squiggling around.

As for noob questions, I've had some ones of my own that are really
funny, like my recent post here searching for 47k pots instead of 50k
pots and learning that they are more or less the same!! Some things
slip under the FAQ cracks, and I've almost thought about starting a
page that answers some newbie questions I had because I'm sure other
people had them as well.

I've been lucky enough to have help from friends and listmembers in my
local area who do synth DIY and will lend a hand and let me use their
tools etc. I learn by watching so between friends and videos I've made
huge strides. Can you identify anyone in your area through these lists
and forums that you can cooperate with? Some urban areas have a
Dorkbot organization meeting or Analogue Heaven meeting, other
stuff....Where people get together and often there's opportunities for
first hand learning.

Videos online tutorials on youtube and stuff have been great as well.
