Try using "Alumajet" ... its thin aluminum that you can inkjet print directly
on.  Fix it to your pre-drilled aluminum panel, and cut the holes with
an x-acto knife.  Spray with clear laquer. Use good quality inkjet ink... not
the dye type that smells like ammonia. Dye will fade in direct sunlight
(I tested it :^)
