[sdiy] "voltage control" on the 556

I'm building an atari punk console -
http://compiler.kaustic.net/machines/apc.html - and while I'm at it, I
was wondering what other sorts of modifications I can add to it. Since
I'm planning on making a bunch of little CMOS noisemakers and effects,
I was wondering if there's any way to take advantage of the "control
voltage" pins on the 556. My only knowledge of CV is typical 0-5V
stuff on modular synths but I was wondering if those two pins are in
any way similar to voltage control as I know it. My only real goal is
extra freakout/chaos on this circuit, so I'm certainly not looking for
something like 1v/octave control or anything like that, but I was
imagining being able to patch in the output of something else that I
build later.

Am I totally barking up the wrong tree with this one, or what?
