Common problem.  I've found several companies in the USA who won't 
use/don't trust USPS for overseas shipments (probably with good reason, 
considering some destinations) and tend to use the likes of FedEx 
instead - and that's the sort of price you have to pay.

This becomes more economical if you buy more stuff from a particular 
vendor - 10 devices will often ship for the same as 1 so that your $24 
shipping per item becomes a more healthy $2.40.

I just wish that the Aussie Dollar vs US Dollar would go back to where 
it was mid-year last year - I was having an absolute ball, even when 
paying FedEx rates.  (Things acquired over here tend to be marked up by 
ridiculous amounts.)  Ah, those were the days ;-)
