I use all the standards and wouldn't want to do without any of them. Having said that, I think the SEM only had sawtooth and pulse, and people love it; importantly, you could mix those waves in any proportion.

Precise. Imprecision can be added.

Accurate shapes are better for modulation, IMHO. For audio use, imperfect waves may be better.

Interesting question. I'd go with 3 pairs of identical oscs, in the above scenario.
