[sdiy] Gate/trigger splitter?

I believe that's external compensation to prevent oscillation when 
there's a capacitive load.  For reference:

P.S. Just took a closer look at the MFOS circuit and realized my earlier 
comment was nonsense.  I'll blame it on being pre-coffee.  Hopefully
