Well, I was looking into just this sort of thing some time back, for a velocity sensitivity retrofit of a keyboard without such (the Ensoniq patent was suggested to me too, though I hadn't any luck either finding it). I found some comparable prices, on linear sensors, not just switches, somewhere, hm.
