Actually, M6 is the thread size and 0.75 is the thread "pitch" (i.e.
the distance from one thread to the next). Most 6MM hardware is 1MM
pitch, so that's why standard hardware doesn't work on most panel
components. You'll want to drill a mount hole that is just larger than
6MM (.236" or divide MM / 25.4 to get inches). Something in the area
of .240". You could go with a .250" (1/4") but that might actually
give you more play than you'd like.
