[sdiy] latched input 8 bit DAC to replace ZN428?

i am really thinking about building the old ETI 
digital delay

however, it uses those odd ZN AD/DA chips

the AD looks easy enough to replace

but the DA has a  LATCH input to turn on or off the latch

my question is whether national or someone else cheap makes something similar

i suppose i could also ADD a latch before the DAC
