my first thought! Check both the PSU and the controller in the box -  
happend twice to me that one of these things died.

Recently I had a chat with a video artist who expressed sincere  
concerns about loosing all the data worth of 10 years.
Never made a backup ...
People PLS! Stop whining and get your important things on a second  
media (i.e. hard disk these days) - on a regular basis.
Anything else is much, much, much more expensive - in terms of money,  
time, loosing projects just before meeting deadlines etc.
Seen this way too often ... really!
