[sdiy] OT: how to save a dead Raided Drive?

Capacity over reliability, shrug. (remember how the industy went with
the warranty issues?)

First of all, I'd plug the drives to the computer and see if they spin
up at all or make that click-click sound which brings the cold sweat.
Don't boot up yet.

Next try booting with some rescueCD with TestDisk:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk - if supported on your
platform, otherwise download it and run it from the OS.

Examine what it founds from the drives, partitions, filesystems.. It
seems it can't handle NTFS stripe sets currently - something to
request and then do a small donation.. ;)

Anyway, if disks spins up and diagnostics shows there's data, You're
probably in luck with buying another similar drive enclosure or at
least the data is recoverable. I'm not sure if it's wise to try mount
drives as stripe set under the OS to try to do it..
