unless its a dead controller
my plan is to go out and buy an ata to usb box
test each drive to see if it spins and works
then i will know i either A need to get a new card to control the drives, or B send it out for recovery
one thing i noticed while testing tonight is that the Input voltage to each drive (which is supposed to be 12v) was at 13.1 volts
and the lacie Ac adapter is rated at 12 volts out too...
odd...
anyway...the drives are getting power but neither are spinning.
this doesnt necessarily mean anything though as they are most likely getting no data telling them to do anything
if i can HEAR both drives spinning properly when attached to a computer with another ATA/usb adapter, that would be a very good sign
at least i hope
anyway...enough of this...time for bed
thanks all
