The input difference very easilly saturates. If you look at any LM13600, 
LM13700 or CA3080 schematics you will notice the resistors sitting there 
just to damp the signal down.

So that is what you need to do just to get into the neighborhood.

If you want squarewave, then you are just fine, but if you wanted OTA 
action, you need to cool that hot signal way down.
