Um, I think this has been mentioned already.  You can't get simpler than 
a single microcontroller IC.  A resistor divider, or more efficiently a 
small voltage regulator, would be needed to run off 9v though.

The accompanying circuit show how to get pink and other noise by 
filtering.  I wouldn't recommend this approach myself - better to do it 
in software and have pink, etc. directly out of other pins of the 
microcontroller.

There must be some code already written somewhere that does this ... ?
