[sdiy] Desoldering DIL packages

I discovered an interesting technique while repairing my Siel DK 600 (memory backup battery leaked and corroded some stuff). It was very difficult to remove the ICs since the corroded solder wouldn't melt, plus double sided boards with through hole plating are difficult to desolder anyway. I held the board vertically, heated the pins from the component side and used an ordinary desoldering bulb to suck/blow the solder from the solder side. YMMV, but in my situation it was the only thing I tried that worked at all.

The desoldering experience tends to vary a lot depending on the board. Sometimes you only need a desoldering braid.
