I haven't seen what these gurus of the analog electronics have ever
said about digital logic - my stupid assumption is they can't get from
fan-out to fan-in.

Mr. Byron is quite correct assuming that non-uC based solutions need
more glue than nessessary on these ages.

If I tried anythink, it wout be some Holtek with a bitta shift
register cascadin..
