I am curious how much you extend the pads for hand soldering. I had to
make a footprint for a capacitance sensor that only comes in an SON
package. I found that extending the pads 20 - 30mils from the body
was sufficient (I use a Metcal iron with a 20mil tip). Did you extend the
pads much more than that?
