Well, I think 4mm is 4mm worldwide.
There are also those safety banana jacks and plugs often found on  
DMMs, where a plastic sleeve thing prevents one from touching the  
contact of the plug. You can still plug a standard plug into a safety  
jack, but not the other way around.
