[sdiy] book on using Ram/eproms/latches, etc?

well it is time again to ask for a book recommendation.

i have the cmos and TTL cookbooks. but neither of them gets very deep into using memory, 
latches, eproms, ADC and DAC's, or other building blocks of memory/digital based systems.

I was wondering if there is something like a Memory cookbook or a very old book on building your own computer,etc
that might help.

this path started with ADC's and keeps continuing...there seem to be many fun things to try but very little data in my personal library
helps. Even electronotes has little info.
