I still think its society more than genetics. I'll use myself and my wife as examples. My dad worked nights when I grew up. I barely knew him until I was in my 20's. I grew up 'in the woods' far away from any neighbors, mostly raised by my mom and sister.

My wife grew up in the city, she was the first born, and her dad pushed her to be an engineer.

My wife has 2 masters degrees and works 14 hours a day as an architect on some very large projects.

I mostly clean and cook!
(I do have my own business and make as much as she does, but I work from home)

So, I think boys are generally pushed to be competitive, sports, work, chores, etc. Girls usually get to play w/ their dolls and do their own thing as they grow up. If they do chores, they're certainly girl chores, cleaning, cooking etc.
If you look at my wife and I, where our childhood roles were reversed, our adult lives are also.

Men and women are different. To try to equate them is a disservice to both
genders. That said, I think it is more a matter of taste and interest that
draws men/women to certain hobbies and activities.

An abundance or lack of representation by men or women in any hobby is not
an indication of proficiency, ability, knowledge, or innate skill, but
represents a bias in interest. Which bias comes from (at least in part) in
how we are "wired".

Men and women have to be different, have different tastes, interests,
natural abilities. Were it not so, our species would not be at all
interesting, and would not probably survive; at least not in an interesting
way. The differences between the genders should be celebrated and
encouraged, not stifled or hidden.

As I've watched my two daughters and my son grow, they have each excelled
academically and athletically. They were fortunate in that they did not have
teachers who tried to tell them they were the same, but helped them achieve
their own personal best without regard to their gender.
