Thankyou, however... the menu seems to be unavailible in v4.x

That did it on mine.  Thank you.
Somthing to note - ctrl has to be held down before clicking on the component 
to move.  Press it too late, and the snap will still be to the old grid.

Thanks to evreyone for their input.  There seems to be many odd quirks to 
eagle, and the solutions are not always easy to find on the web!
